AMD sponsors Runway's VR startups with FirePro video cards

We're excited to announce that AMD sponsored Runway’s Virtual Reality startup teams with AMD FirePro 32GB W9100 cards. I asked our teams to give their insights about how such a high end card powers their development:

Superstar Games is one of the startups that received a FirePro card. They’re bringing Joe Montana to the VR field. Damon Grow, CEO, said "The AMD FirePro W9100 card has helped us at Superstar Games tremendously. We do high renders and motion capture data crunching and without the card would take an enormous amount of time. The new AMD card is truly best in class for any business looking to save money and boost production."

Holobuilder is another startup team working at Runway. They’re building the future of virtual reality and applying it to construction sites. Christian Claus, President, said “Thanks AMD and Runway for this amazing graphic power! Now we can run reality renderings in a fraction of time. Saved us many hours already!”

Simon Heinen, CTO of Holobuilder, added "The OpenCL computing capabilities are also very promising, we will definitely use it also for our computer vision algorithms (3D reconstructions for example). The power and memory of the card is especially for VR very valuable if we want to render huge 3D meshes without any lags."

VirtualU, a 3D scanner for fitness available in 5 gyms on the east coast also added one of the Fire Pro cards to their capabilities. Louis Cirillo, CEO said: "Using the Fire Pro 9100 with my external graphics system has given me the ability to have workstation grade graphics at my desk using my laptop. It's fantastic to be able to drive 4 monitors simultaneously while rapidly processing 3d point clouds and meshes."

vTime is one of Runway's newest VR teams. Julian Price, CMO, said "We’ll be building around this card a state-of-the-art desktop demo kit, for use here in Runway, to showcase forthcoming vTime features and VR experiences to our potential partners. Thanks again guys! Really appreciated."
